350 Introduction to Ceramics

Learn the basics of hand-building and wheel-throwing! Students will be taught how to prepare, center and work with lumps of clay to throw vessels of various shapes and sizes, including bowls, mugs and vases. Students will discover and refine their hand-building skills – including coiling, slab building and pinch pots as they create functional and sculptural pieces. We’ll explore proper textural and glazing techniques as we finish our pieces in an array of underglazes and glazes. Bring your ideas! No Class February 20th.
