322 Winter Plein Aire

Just Because the temperatures have dropped, doesn’t mean that we stop our Plein Aire Studies. Winter is a great time to go into the studio and utilize what we have done during the warmer preceding months, or establish an excellent foundation when once again we can paint outdoors. This course is focused on the fundamentals of this method of spontaneous on-site landscape painting. Students will learn the uses of one- and two- point perspective and checkpoint drawing to emphasize correct proportion and dimension. The use of models (buildings and such) will be used to illustrate and understand the basic principles of perspective as well as light and value, especially for one source using a spotlight (to represent sunlight). Atmospheric perspective through the use of color and light values is an important aspect as well.. This is a great opportunity for you to come home and show off that new outdoor expression that you captured on canvas! No class February 20.
