320 Introduction to Painting

Struggling to pick up a brush or get back into painting? Wondering how and why some paintings look so good? This low pressure, weekly class is designed to help students take the next steps. By taking the guesswork out of color mixing, fundamentals of brushwork, and building compelling composition, we’ll unravel the mysteries and how to replicate them. We will talk about perspective and using light to build space and references or from rotating still life setups. Demonstrations will take place weekly focusing on the areas participants struggle with most. Suggested materials list is available for acrylics. Whether you are new to painting or looking to refine your skills, this class can help you – develop the tools to unlock your self-expression.
