306 Perspective in Landscape

A shortcoming for many new students’ artwork is the misunderstanding of perspective in their compositions, yet perspective is an essential part of drawing effectively from observation. Whether painting outdoor scenes or various three dimensional subjects, having an understanding of correct perspective will be a real bonus to your artwork. In this class, basic rules of perspective will be discussed, practiced and applied. Students will learn the foundations of both one and two point perspective and how it applies to all phases of their artwork. Students will then progress to creating monochromatic studies in their choice of medium, using light and dark values to enhance perspective views, light sources, and shadows. Still life setups will be incorporated to further illustrate perspective principles and applications. The instructor will provide demos along with individual instruction.
