301 Essentials of Drawing – Beginner to Beyond

New and returning students are welcome!
Unlock your creative potential in this welcoming drawing class for adults of all skill levels. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to a long-lost passion, this class encourages growth, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the art of drawing. Returning and seasoned artists may choose to focus on personal project ideas.

Learn new techniques using pencil and charcoal while you develop drawing skills, learn or refine essential drawing skills through guided weekly exercises in line, proportion, composition, perspective, value and shading. Work from still-life setups or drawing references from teacher supplies, or bring in your own objects or photographs. Drawing examples from art history will be used for inspiration. Seasonal subjects may be explored with photographs, master art prints, or through drawing excursions to the Cohasset Common, en plein air.

This class offers a supportive environment with personalized feedback. By the end, you’ll leave with a toolbox of skills, a selection of work, and the confidence to continue your artistic journey.
