300 Basic Drawing / Beginner to Intermediate

“Learning to draw is really a matter of learning to see – which involves more than looking with the eye.” (Kimon Nikolaides).

Drawing is a skill that can be developed through a series of exercises and classroom experiences. The emphasis will be on developing effective observational skills – to see like an artist – by observing the basic structure of one’s surroundings and finding an effective means to express it through graphic media. Experimentation with a variety of drawing tools and techniques will be explored along with considerations of composition and design. A range of weekly actvities will be presented involving line, value, space, texture, and mark making. Master drawings will be used to illustrate drawing concepts and techniques. Instruction will be supportive and individualized.
