Visual Storytelling with James Burke
This year’s artist, James Burke, has been in the arts for almost all his life. Since sitting at the kitchen table drawing with his Crayolas to now ‘retired from the business world’ and painting every day, he has had a need to record his thoughts with some kind of visual medium. He believes that telling stories through visual communication is timeless and incredibly important – not only for the artist but also for the viewer. When we tell stories, we learn to open up our minds to the world and we ask to see other stories.
FREE Field Trips for Local Schools
October 2025 – May 2026
For decades, South Shore Art Center has hosted our Artist-in-Residence field trips for students in grades 3-5. Students visit our art center on Wednesday mornings for 2 hours, meet with a professional artist and create their own masterpieces to take home. .
