All Media Courses need a minimum of 5 students to run. Please register no later than 7 days prior to the first class.

- No classes will be held Monday, May 26, Memorial Day.
- Young adults, 15 years and older, are welcome to enroll in most adult courses with the permission of the instructor.
- In the event of inclement weather, the Art Center follows the Cohasset Public Schools school closings. Should a storm emerge during the day, please call 781-383-2787 x 10 for any class cancellations.
- Sibling Discount! Please take $10 off the total tuition if you are registering more than one child from your family for our courses. (Sorry, workshops cannot be discounted.)

Embark on a creative adventure this summer with the South Shore Art Center’s popular ART AFTERNOONS—offered for 6 weeks. Students will explore, create and investigate art, including clay, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. Each week will introduce a new thematic unit. There will be both group and individual projects in a fun, supportive, and air-conditioned environment. Students will enjoy a mid-afternoon break with snack and an art show for family and friends at the end of the week. (Programs subject to change.)

Summertime offers artists inspiration—with blue skies, lush foliage, cumulus clouds, blooming flowers, and rippling waters. In this 4-week class students will develop their drawing skills by exploring nature themes using colored pencils, pastel, and watercolor. Weather permitting students also will enjoy plein air (outdoor) painting at the Cohasset Common. Join this supportive class designed for the emerging artist.

This course is designed for middle and high school students who are serious about art and looking for individualized instruction. Through the painting medium, students will explore basic drawing elements of line and composition, learn color mixing, and work with both oils and acrylics. Weather permitting, classes will be held outdoors to explore plein air painting on/near the beautiful Cohasset Common and harbor. Students will be responsible for purchasing some materials.

175 High School Portfolio
Intensive (grades 10–12) Danielle Mason Mihaley and

Students who are seriously considering art school will benefit from this portfolio prep course. Over the weeklong course, students will sharpen their artistic skills, be introduced to new media and techniques, and produce quality portfolio pieces for application to an art school. Instruction will focus on both the technical and conceptual aspects of creating two-dimensional artwork. Students should be prepared for the workdays to simulate studio classes in art school.
Danielle Mason Mihaley is an art teacher in the Scituate Public Schools. Chelsea McAlarney is currently a student at Rhode Island School of Design concentrating in illustration. She attended pre-college at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Students looking to develop their artistic skills are encouraged to take the Art Studio II class on Thursday afternoons. In addition, Adult Courses are available to young adults ages 16 and older. Scholarship
Scholarships for elementary age school children are available based on need through the generosity of the Lois Weltman Memorial Fund for Children. Please inquire at SSAC office for more information.
